Overview

Passion Fruit is a Vine card with both roles: native to South America and invasive across Africa, East Asia, Europe, both halves of North America, Oceania and South Asia. Seven invasive regions is among the widest spreads in the collection. Native it is a cushioned bench piece; invasive it is a much sharper attacker. See nativity and categories.

Moves

The starter attack, Creeping Spread, unlocks at level 1 for 2 Sun, reading 22 native and 27 invasive. Creeps across the foe's whole bench.

The free once-per-battle ability, Competitive Exclusion, unlocks at level 25 and costs no Sun. Leaves no room at all β€” the foe stalls and withers.

The advanced attack, Choke Point, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun, reading 22 native and 27 invasive. Finds the narrow spot and closes it β€” the foe stalls and wilts. It matches the starter's damage at three times the Sun cost, so this card gains an option at level 40 rather than a better hit. See moves.

Abilities

Allelopathy arrives on the first riser at level 10 at full strength, projecting a suppressing aura onto the opposing active plant. It works every checkup without costing a turn, which suits a slow card β€” it contributes even on turns the card acts last.

Structural Load stacks on at level 68 and fires when this card is knocked out, chipping the opposing bench rather than the plant that removed it.

Features

The species record lists no toxicity and no trait keywords, so no poison rider applies. For field gear, the thin armour means damage prevention beats reduction. Its growth habit is a vine, so a Moss Pole does fit this card.

Stats

At level 40 native reads 103 HP and 19 ATK; invasive reads 89 HP and 33 ATK. Note how far apart those attack figures sit β€” that gap is the introduced-range term, and it is the single biggest thing separating this card's two roles. Armour is 8 and retreat is 16 Sun. Opening tempo is 23, which is low, with sustained tempo at 34. Invasive it pays Faustian bench damage per damaging attack and concedes 2 prizes on knockout. See stats.

At Level 100

By level 100 native reaches 190 HP and 34 ATK, invasive 165 HP and 69 ATK, with armour only at 15. Soft-vine divergence: biomass swells, plating barely moves. Retreat rises to 33 Sun and the inverted tempo has bottomed out on a card that was already slow.

Weaknesses & Resistances

Vine is in the Competitor succession group: strong into Ruderal β€” annual forbs, grasses, aquatics and bulbs β€” and weak to Specialist, meaning succulents, conifers, ferns and epiphytes. See weaknesses and resistances.

Gameplay uses

An attrition card whose printed move numbers understate it. Both attacks are soft, but the attack stat behind them is high in the invasive role, and the aura chips the opposing plant every checkup regardless of turn order β€” which matters on a card this slow.

Do not lead with it. Send it in after the opposing plant is committed, let the aura work, and accept that it grinds rather than bursts.

It is edible with a fruit economy group, so a phosphorus soil amendment pays it Γ—1.25 coins β€” a reliable income card. See the battle lab.

Total power

Leveling trades speed for power. A plant’s tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β€” native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β€” with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
