Echeveria agavoides
A native-only succulent that opens fast, heals in sun, and closes with a multi-hit β durable but low on damage.
Molded wax is a Succulent that fights as a front-loaded staller: it leads on turn 1, heals in sun, and finishes with a multi-hit. It is native to western North America, and the arena only ever casts it as a native β no invasive card exists β so it plays purely as a buffer for your bench. It is a durable card, but its low attack keeps it in a supporting role.
Its starter attack, Prick, unlocks at level 1 and costs 2 Sun, dealing a plain hit of about 26 damage. The free once-per-battle ability, Xeric Climax, comes in at level 25: Master of the drylands: heal 70%. The advanced attack, Dry Spell, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun (24 damage) and strikes several times in one turn. Most of your molded wax sit below level 40, where only the starter is available. None of its moves carry an initiative rider, so it never seizes a turn.
Molded wax keeps a single always-on trait: Photosynthesis. Because it draws only one eligible trait, Photosynthesis arrives at half strength on the level 10 riser and matures on the level 68 one. It heals the plant in sun, but it triggers only about 60% of the time, so treat it as an occasional top-up rather than a steady drip. See Abilities.
It carries no offensive trait keywords, so nothing punishes an attacker for hitting it. It is non-toxic: no contact recoil, no hazard ring. Its growth habit is terrestrial, so it is not eligible for a Moss Pole. Defensive field gear that adds HP or DEF best suits its stalling role.
At level 40 molded wax reads 103 HP and 16 ATK β a low attack, near the bottom of this set. Because it is native-only, there is no invasive variant. DEF is just 2, near the succulent floor, so despite its bulk it takes hits with little armor. Its tempo is front-loaded: turn 1 runs on a high initiative (43) so it leads early, then every turn after runs on a much lower SPD (21), so it is out-paced once a fight drags on. Retreat costs 16 Sun. As a native it gains a +15% HP cushion and, while benched, projects an HP overshield bar onto your active. See Stats.
Matured to level 100, molded wax swells to 190 HP and 28 ATK, but its DEF only reaches 3 β a succulent becomes a large health pool with almost no armor, so raw HP is its only defense. Retreat rises to 33 Sun, and its tempo has sunk to roughly 1% of cap, so the fast opener of low levels ends up acting last against younger cards. Maturity buys health and a fuller Photosynthesis heal, but not damage.
As a succulent, molded wax is in the Specialist succession group. It hits Competitor plants for x1.5 and is hit for only x0.667 by them; it is weak to Ruderal plants, which strike it for x1.5 while resisting its blows. Against other Specialists and the off-wheel Weird group the matchup is neutral. See Weaknesses & Resistances.
Play molded wax as a durable support: open with its lead, chip with the multi-hit, heal in sun, and prop up a fragile partner with its bench overshield, ideally into Competitor-group foes it resists. Its low attack means it rarely closes a fight on its own, so treat it as a wall rather than a finisher. Its economy is growth-only β it is inedible, so any nutrient banks x1.25 XP rather than coins. It fights as a fast opener that leans on bulk and healing as it levels, crossing over around level 24 β and higher levels always improve its stats, so there is no reason to hold it back.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
