Overview

The Lightning Jewel Orchid is a delicate Epiphyte with a heal and a pin. It has no native or invasive range on record, so the arena treats it neutrally: it takes neither the native buffer role nor the invasive attacker role, and gets none of the bonuses or penalties either carries. It is best understood as a purely collectible card β€” a display piece more than a battler.

Moves

Its starter attack, Twist, unlocks at level 1 and costs 2 Sun, dealing a plain hit of about 24 damage. The free once-per-battle ability, Epiphyte Load, comes in at level 25: Loads every branch until they bend β€” the foe's bench withers, and it stalls. The advanced attack, Tank Bromeliad, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun (27 damage) and binds the target so it cannot retreat. Most of your orchids sit below level 40, where only the starter is available. None of its moves carry an initiative rider, so it never seizes a turn.

Abilities

Lightning jewel orchid carries a trait on each riser. Velamen Radicum (level 10) is worth 2% of max HP back per checkup. Tank Reservoir (level 68) supplies an overshield bar of the plant's own. See Abilities.

Features

It carries no special trait keywords, so nothing punishes an attacker for hitting it. It is non-toxic: no contact recoil, no hazard ring. Its growth habit is recorded as terrestrial, so it is not eligible for a Moss Pole. Because it holds no nativity role, general defensive field gear that adds HP or DEF is the most it can lean on.

Stats

At level 40 the orchid reads 103 HP and 17 ATK at its neutral base β€” it holds no nativity stance, so there is no native cushion and no invasive attack bonus, just this base line. DEF is 2, near the epiphyte floor, so it takes hits with almost no armor. Its tempo is even but slightly back-loaded: turn 1 runs on its initiative (32) and every turn after on a marginally higher SPD (34), so it is out-paced early and steadier later. Retreat costs 16 Sun. See Stats and Nativity for what native and invasive casts add.

At Level 100

Matured to level 100, the orchid grows to 190 HP and 30 ATK, but its DEF only reaches 3 β€” as a soft epiphyte it gains a little health and almost no armor, so it stays fragile against any real hitter. Retreat rises to 33 Sun, and its tempo has sunk to roughly 1% of cap, so a mature orchid acts last against almost anything young.

Weaknesses & Resistances

As an epiphyte, the orchid is in the Specialist succession group. It hits Competitor plants for x1.5 and is hit for only x0.667 by them; it is weak to Ruderal plants, which strike it for x1.5 while resisting its blows. Against other Specialists and the off-wheel Weird group the matchup is neutral. See Weaknesses & Resistances.

Gameplay uses

The Lightning Jewel Orchid is mainly a collectible: its Specialist type gives it a useful edge against Competitor-group opponents, and its pin can lock a target, but its low damage and thin defense keep it out of serious lineups. Its economy is growth-only β€” it is inedible, so any nutrient you feed it banks x1.25 XP rather than coins, making leveling it an XP investment. If you do field it, its tempo trends from a soft opener to a steadier presence as it levels, crossing over around level 29 β€” and higher levels always improve its raw stats, so there is no reason to hold it back.

Total power

Leveling trades speed for power. A plant’s tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β€” native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β€” with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
