Albizia vaughanii
A critically endangered African broadleaf tree that plays purely as a native wall and Sun-overshield anchor, with a legume's nitrogen head start.
Albizia vaughanii is a Broadleaf tree that plays as a durable wall and bench support. As a tree it sits at the top of the armor range, and its biomass gives it a deep HP pool. It is native to Africa and invasive nowhere in the current regions, so it is a native-only card: it fills the buffer role and never becomes an attacker. It is also critically endangered, which matters for its bench value below.
Its starter attack, Branch Slam, unlocks at Lv 1 and costs 2 Sun, hitting for 31 as the native card it always is: A heavy branch slams down.
At Lv 25 it gains a free once-per-battle ability, Canopy Recruitment, which costs no Sun: Pushes a sapling into the canopy: heal 35% and +3 ATK. That heal-plus-attack buff makes an otherwise low-attack tree a little more self-sufficient in a long fight.
Its advanced attack, Root Heave, unlocks at Lv 40 for 6 Sun and deals 18: Heaves the ground up under the foe β trapped, and sapped. Neither move carries an initiative rider, so it does not take the opening turn β which fits a slow tree that leans on bulk rather than speed.
It keeps two always-on traits, arriving at different levels. From Lv 10 it holds Buttress Roots, an immunity trait: a buttressed trunk cannot be pinned, so it is immune to the Bound status and can always retreat or reposition. A second, different trait stacks on at Lv 68 β Network, the canopy-tree Sun trait. Once it holds Network, a benched copy projects a gold Sun overshield bar onto your active, backing up that plant's Sun bar once its own runs dry. Network's Sun bar is not native-gated, so it helps whichever active you have out.
It carries no special trait keywords, and as a tree it is not a Moss Pole climber. For field gear it wants defensive and sustain amendments β a Ca/Mg feed stacks flat DEF onto an already high tree wall, and because it is native-only there is no attacker build to consider. Its best use of gear is simply to be harder to kill on the bench.
Read at Lv 40, it carries 103 HP β the native +15% cushion on an already large tree pool β with a low ATK of 15; this is a defender, not a striker. DEF is 24 at this level and climbs toward a full tree wall as it matures. On tempo, turn 1 is set by initiative (44) and later turns by SPD (33); it opens a touch quicker than it cruises, but both are ordinary for its category and it does not win fights on speed. Retreat costs 14 Sun. Because it is critically endangered, a benched copy projects a full-size HP overshield bar onto your active β the largest a single native contributes β which is the main reason to run it.
Grown to Lv 100, its HP rises to 190 and its ATK only to 25, so the attack gap never closes β this stays a wall, not a hitter. DEF climbs to 56, set by its battle category and wood density, hardening it into genuine tree armor. Retreat rises to 28 Sun as it roots down, and the inverted tempo has fallen to roughly its floor, so a mature copy is slow but very hard to remove. Maturing buys it durability and the Network Sun bar; it costs only the early quickness it never relied on.
As a broadleaf tree it is in the Competitor succession group. It deals Γ1.5 to Ruderal categories β annual-forb, grass, aquatic and bulb β and is resisted, taking only Γ0.667, by Specialists β succulent, conifer, fern and epiphyte. Its low ATK blunts even that strong matchup, so its defense, not its offense, is what carries it.
Run Albizia vaughanii as a bench piece first and a wall second. Its critically endangered status makes it one of the best overshield contributors in the game β a full bar of green HP projected onto whatever active you field β and from Lv 68 it adds a Sun overshield on top. As an active it survives well but rarely closes out a fight on its own low attack, so pair it with a striker. Being a legume (Fabaceae), one in four caught in the wild arrives with the Nitrogen amendment already applied β an equipped soil bonus worth about a 300-coin head start that decomposes after a month, so use it or replace it before then. It is inedible, so any fertilizer you feed it banks the Γ1.25 XP (growth) bonus rather than coins. As a heavy tree it is power-favored from a very low level, crossing over around Lv 24 β below that its speed matters more, above it its bulk dominates.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
