Vaccinium membranaceum
A modest shrub with no arena role β a neutral collection and coin piece whose tough leaf blunts hits and whose fruit heals the bench when it falls.
Thinleaf huckleberry is a modest Shrub that fights on a plain base line: it hits, mends once mid-fight, and saps the target with its advanced attack. It has no native or invasive card in play, so it plays neither buffer nor attacker β a neutral piece that runs purely on its own stats and moves. It is a weak card, better as a collection and coin piece than a fighter.
Its starter attack, Drupe Drop, unlocks at level 1 for 2 Sun, dealing about 25 damage as a plain hit. The free once-per-battle ability, Chaparral Climax, arrives at level 25: Owns the dry hillside: heal 60% and +4 ATK. It is a mid-fight mend. The advanced attack, Hedgerow Havoc, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun (25 damage) and saps the target as it strikes. Most of your thinleaf huckleberry sit below level 40, where only the starter is unlocked. None of its moves carry an initiative rider. See Moves.
Thinleaf huckleberry carries one working trait per riser. Sclerophylly (level 10) shaves a flat 3 off each direct hit. Drupe Mast (level 68) is the huckleberry crop itself: when the card is knocked out, every surviving benched ally recovers 8% of its max HP. See Abilities.
Thinleaf huckleberry is non-toxic: striking it carries no contact recoil, and its attacks carry no poison rider. Its habit is terrestrial, so it is not eligible for a Moss Pole. With no arena role, it takes generic field gear on its own terms β a Cloche or a calcium/magnesium amendment for a little armor, or offensive gear to prop up its middling attack. See statuses.
At level 40 thinleaf huckleberry reads 121 HP with 18 ATK β middling offense. DEF is 11, firmer than a weed or herb in the shrub band, so it takes hits reasonably well. Its tempo is lopsided: turn 1 runs on a low initiative (18), so it is out-paced early, but every turn after runs on a stronger SPD (33), making it a steadier cruiser once the fight settles. Retreat costs 13 Sun. With neither a native nor an invasive card in play, it runs on its base line β no native HP cushion or bench overshield, and no invasive attack bonus, Faustian bench cost or conceded prizes. See Stats.
Matured to level 100, thinleaf huckleberry climbs to 233 HP and 30 ATK, and its DEF reaches 21 β as a shrub it firms up into decent armor, better than a soft card though short of a tree's wall. Retreat rises to 26 Sun, and its tempo has sunk to about 1% of cap, so a mature huckleberry acts last against almost anything younger.
As a shrub, thinleaf huckleberry sits in the Competitor succession group. It hits Ruderal plants (annual forbs, grasses, aquatics, bulbs) for Γ1.5 and takes only Γ0.667 from them; it is weak to Specialist plants (succulents, conifers, ferns, epiphytes), which strike it for Γ1.5 while resisting its blows. Against other Competitors and the off-wheel Weird group the matchup is neutral. See Weaknesses & Resistances.
Thinleaf huckleberry is a plain neutral card: with no trait and no nativity bonuses, it fights only as far as its moves and shrub-band armor carry it, which is not far. Use it to soak a few hits, mend once, and sap a target, but expect no more. Its real value is out of battle. On economy, it is edible with a resolved part, so feeding it Phosphorus pays Γ1.25 coins while any other nutrient banks Γ1.25 XP toward faster growth, and it fills a slot in your family-tree collection. It plays as a steady, unremarkable cruiser that gets tankier with levels, crossing over around level 14 β and it is always stronger at higher levels, so there is no reason to hold it back.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
