Pinus densiflora
A native-only conifer wall from East Asia β high HP, firm DEF and a permanent attack buff, but slow both off the mark and in the long run.
Japanese red pine is a conifer and a Specialist. It is native to East Asia and is invasive nowhere, so it only ever plays the buffer role. It is a durable, high-HP wall that trades tempo for staying power.
It opens with Limb Lash at level 1 for 2 Sun, dealing 36. At level 25 it gains Boreal Establishment β Takes hold in cold ground: heal 35%, and the foe can't heal. β a permanent +3 ATK that it keeps for the rest of the match, so its damage grows once used. Its advanced attack, Sappy Ending, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun and deals 27. No move carries an initiative rider.
It keeps two canopy traits. Photosynthesis comes online at level 10, a sunny-weather heal that triggers about 60% of the time. Network stacks on at level 68 β benched, it feeds a gold Sun overshield bar to your active. Together they make it both self-sustaining and a bench support.
A conifer, so naturally armored (see Stats). No thorns, no toxin trait, and not a climber, so no Moss Pole. A calcium/magnesium amendment pushes its DEF higher for the wall role.
At level 40 it reads a high 140 HP with 18 ATK and a firm 20 DEF that keeps climbing. Both tempo stats are low β opening 29, sustained 23 β so it usually moves last on both counts and relies on soaking hits rather than out-speeding. As a native it carries a 15% HP cushion and projects an HP overshield onto your active while benched. Retreat costs 19 Sun.
By level 100 it becomes a heavy wall: DEF reaches 44 on its wood density, HP climbs to 276, and ATK to 31. Retreat rises to 40 Sun and its already-low tempo has fallen to near nothing β it will move last almost always. Maturing buys a tough, self-healing anchor at the cost of ever going first.
As a Specialist it deals 1.5Γ to Competitors (perennial-herb, vine, shrub, broadleaf-tree) and takes 1.5Γ from Ruderals (annual-forb, grass, aquatic, bulb), resisting Competitor hits at 0.667Γ; Weird is neutral. Poison is its real threat, ignoring DEF and bypassing the overshield.
A strong native-only wall: bench it for an HP overshield and a Sun overshield, or field it to soak damage while its Windbreak buff and Photosynthesis keep it in the fight. It earns steady coin as a durable front-liner in single-player, though its low speed means faster foes act first. Inedible, so fertilizer banks Γ1.25 XP. As a bulk-rich conifer it is power-favoured from a low level (around 8); level it up freely, since its wall only improves.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
