Philodendron martianum
A native-only carrion-aroid in the neutral Weird group -- fast but very low-attack and soft, carried mostly by a strong once-per-battle heal.
Green Congo philodendron is a carrion-aroid card native to South America and introduced nowhere, so it plays purely as a native buffer -- there is no attacker form, and the page reads through the native (or neutral base) profile. Its category places it in the Weird succession group, which is off the type wheel (see categories).
Numbers are read at the snapshot level 40, where every slot is unlocked.
The starter, Crown Split, unlocks at Lv 1 and costs 2 Sun for 38, splashing the foe's bench: Splits at the crown and strikes from both. The free once-per-battle ability, Alkaloid Reservoir, unlocks at Lv 25 and deals no damage: Empties a season of alkaloids into the foe β saturating Poison. The advanced attack, Deep Root Strike, unlocks at Lv 40, costs 6 Sun for 40: Draws on deep roots for a heavy blow. No move carries the initiative rider. See moves.
Where most of its category leans on the lure trait -- a working taunt that pulls single-target splash and scatter hits onto the decoy and off its allies -- this card instead keeps two other always-on traits. At Lv 10 it gains thermogenesis: the self-heating spadix Burns the opposing active a little each checkup, a steady trickle of damage-over-time that bypasses DEF and the overshield. At Lv 68 corm-reserve stacks on top: like Resprout it is a seeded save, giving it roughly a 35% chance to survive one otherwise-lethal hit and re-shoot from its underground corm at about 30% HP -- a revive chance, not one of the 60% sustain-heal traits. Below Lv 68 only thermogenesis is active. See abilities.
It holds no Thorns, Toxin or Unpalatable contact trait, so striking it costs an attacker no recoil. It is a very soft-bodied plant, so a Calcium/Magnesium amendment (flat DEF) does the most to firm it up. Its growth habit is not confirmed as a climber in the species record, so it is not treated as Moss Pole eligible. See field gear.
At 40 it reads 103 HP on just 17 ATK -- the lowest attack in this batch -- over a minimal 1 DEF, with retreat at 12 Sun. It is fast on both clocks: opening initiative 37 and an even higher sustained SPD 40 make it a quick starter and a quick cruiser, usually acting first. As a native it carries a +15% HP cushion and a bench overshield. It is invasive nowhere, so it never pays bench self-damage and concedes no extra prizes. See stats.
Fully grown, HP climbs toward 190 but DEF stays near the floor at 1 -- large HP, almost no armor. ATK tops out at 30, so it never becomes a damage threat. Retreat rises to 23 Sun and the inverted tempo sinks to roughly its 1% floor, so it loses its speed edge with age; what it keeps is bulk and its big heal.
As a carrion-aroid it is in the Weird group, off the succession wheel: it deals and takes neutral (Γ1) damage against every group, with no strong or resisted matchups. See weaknesses & resistances.
This is a weak combat card carried by its once-per-battle heal, which restores a large chunk of HP and adds a little attack. Its speed lets it open, and its starter chips the enemy bench, but its very low ATK and paper DEF mean it cannot trade blows -- play it as a native buffer for the overshield and as a durable stall, not a finisher, and keep a real attacker behind it. It is not edible, so fertilizer banks the Γ1.25 XP boost rather than coins. On the total-power gallery it stays tempo-favored until about Lv 29, after which its growing bulk dominates -- which edge dominates, not a reason to avoid leveling.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
