Overview

White Mulberry is a Broadleaf tree card with both roles: native to East Asia and invasive across Africa, Europe, both halves of North America, Oceania, South America and South Asia. Seven invasive regions is among the widest spreads in the game. See nativity and categories.

Moves

The starter attack, Raysteal, unlocks at level 1 for 2 Sun, reading 29 native and 35 invasive. Takes the light by force β€” strike and heal 10%.

The free once-per-battle ability, Climax Community, unlocks at level 25 and costs no Sun. The forest as it ends up: heal 70% and +5 ATK.

The advanced attack, Mast Bombard, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun, reading 21 native and 27 invasive. A mast year's worth of fruit onto the whole bench. It hits for noticeably less than the starter while costing three times the Sun β€” an effect purchase only. See moves.

Abilities

Tannin Load arrives on the first riser at level 10 at full strength: strike this card and the attacker takes Wither, losing attack power for the rest of the fight. On a plant this durable, that compounds β€” opponents need many turns to get through it, and each one makes them weaker.

Canopy Gap stacks on at level 68, granting immunity to spread and splash effects. Heavy armour plus area-damage immunity makes this a genuinely awkward card to remove. See statuses.

Features

The species record lists no toxicity and no trait keywords, so no poison rider applies. For field gear, this card is already tough and already fast, so gear that extends its stay converts straight into value. Its growth habit is not vine, epiphyte or hemiepiphyte, so a Moss Pole does not apply.

Stats

At level 40 native reads 103 HP and 16 ATK; invasive reads 89 HP and 33 ATK β€” a large step driven by that wide introduced range. Armour is 26, among the highest in this batch. Retreat is 16 Sun. Opening tempo is 51, near the top of the range, with sustained tempo at 32. Fast and heavily armoured is a rare pairing. Invasive it pays Faustian bench damage per damaging attack and concedes 2 prizes on knockout. See stats.

At Level 100

By level 100 native reaches 190 HP and 28 ATK, invasive 165 HP and 69 ATK, with armour at 59. The full tree shape: it climbs to a wall. Retreat rises to 33 Sun and the inverted tempo has sunk to its floor, so the matured card trades its speed for bulk β€” contrast the tempo pips above.

Weaknesses & Resistances

Broadleaf tree is Competitor: strong into Ruderal β€” annual forbs, grasses, aquatics and bulbs β€” and weak to Specialist, meaning succulents, conifers, ferns and epiphytes. See weaknesses and resistances.

Gameplay uses

One of the better all-round cards available. Invasive it acts first, hits hard with a cheap starter attack, survives the reply behind heavy armour, and makes that reply weaker via Tannin Load. There is not much to plan around beyond the Faustian bench cost.

Its one real weakness is the advanced attack, which is a damage downgrade β€” so unlike most cards, levelling past level 40 does not give it a better hit, only another option. Keep leading with the starter.

It is edible with a fruit economy group, so a phosphorus soil amendment pays it Γ—1.25 coins. Strong on both axes. See the battle lab.

Total power

Leveling trades speed for power. A plant’s tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β€” native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β€” with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
