Overview

The blackberry lily is a bulb (Bulb) that plays two ways depending on the arena. It is native to East Asia, Oceania and South Asia, and invasive in eastern North America and South America, so it holds both roles: a fast native bench buffer, and a hard-hitting invasive attacker.

Moves

It opens with Triple Nose at Lv 1 for 2 Sun: Three noses at once, each a lighter hit. It deals about 57 as a native and 66 as an invasive. Its free once-per-battle ability, Spring Ephemeral, unlocks at Lv 25 for no Sun: Up and flowering before the canopy closes β€” a burst of speed, kept. Its advanced attack, Naturalize, arrives at Lv 40 for 6 Sun and deals about 41 native / 44 invasive: Spreads β€” also nicks the bench. β€” the splash chips the enemy bench on top of the main hit. No move carries an initiative rider.

Abilities

It keeps two always-on traits. Spring Ephemeral Burst arrives at Lv 10: on turns 1 and 2 it gains +4 SPD, leaning into a fast opening before it settles. Perennating Reserve stacks on at Lv 68: the bulb is a stored-energy organ, giving it its own private Sun bar that it can even spend above the normal Sun cap. Below Lv 68 it has only the early-turn speed burst.

Features

It carries no special trait keywords, and as a bulb it is not a climber, so it takes no Moss Pole. Standard field gear fits; a Ca/Mg amendment is about the only way to firm up its very soft armor.

Stats

Read at Lv 40, where every move is unlocked, its DEF is a soft 2 β€” this is a glassy card. As a native it has 103 HP (the +15% cushion included) and 23 ATK; as an invasive its HP is 89 but its ATK jumps to 33, a clear step up from its native self and the reason to field it as an attacker. On tempo it is a slight slow-starter, quicker-cruiser β€” opening initiative (32) just under sustained SPD (34) β€” though Spring Ephemeral Burst papers over the opening with its +4 SPD. An invasive pays Faustian self-damage to its own bench on every damaging attack (growing as it levels) and concedes 2 prizes when knocked out; a native instead projects a thin green HP overshield (it is Least-Concern) onto your active from the bench. See stats.

At Level 100

Matured, HP swells to 190 native / 165 invasive, and invasive ATK climbs to 67 (against 42 native), so the attacker identity only widens with age. DEF barely moves, settling around 3 β€” biomass grows but armor does not, so it stays a glass cannon. Retreat rises to 33 Sun, and its tempo sinks toward its floor, blunting the early-turn speed that defined it young.

Weaknesses & Resistances

As a bulb it is in the Ruderal succession group: strong (Γ—1.5) into Specialists (succulents, conifers, ferns, epiphytes) and on the losing side against Competitors (perennial herbs, vines, shrubs, broadleaf trees).

Gameplay uses

As an invasive it is a genuine racer: high ATK, a fast open, and a bench-splashing advanced attack that pressures both the active and its supports β€” but it is fragile and each attack chips your own bench through Faustian, so close games quickly. As a native it is better on the bench, feeding an overshield and holding its private Sun reserve for a teammate. It is not edible, so fertilizer banks Γ—1.25 XP for growth rather than coins. It fights as a fast skirmisher until about Lv 25 as an invasive, after which its rising attack and bulk take over.

Total power

Leveling trades speed for power. A plant’s tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β€” native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β€” with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
