Cordyline fruticosa
An even-tempo shrub that regenerates in any weather and hits noticeably harder as an invader across six regions.
Broadleaf palm lily is a Shrub that keeps a steady pace and mends itself in any weather. It is native to Oceania and invasive across Africa, East Asia, Eastern and Western North America, South America, and South Asia, so the arena can field it either way β as a native buffer or as an invasive attacker. It is a well-rounded card: no glaring weakness beyond soft-ish armor, a reliable self-heal, and a strong invasive ATK make it a dependable pick.
Its starter attack, Chipmunk Horde, unlocks at level 1 and costs 2 Sun, dealing about 26 damage as a native and 29 as an invasive β a plain hit. The free once-per-battle ability, Nurse Shrub, arrives at level 25: Shelters the whole bench β evens their health, and calls the fallen back. The advanced attack, Briar Cage, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun (21 native / 24 invasive) and binds the target so it cannot retreat cleanly. Most of your palm lilies sit below level 40, where only the starter is open. None of its moves carry an initiative rider. See Moves.
Broadleaf palm lily keeps one always-on trait: succulence, which arrives on the level 10 riser and regenerates the plant in any weather. It triggers only about 60% of the time, so the recovery is real but streaky β count on it as a bonus, not a plan. See Abilities.
Broadleaf palm lily carries the succulence keyword, the source of its all-weather regeneration. It holds no toxin β non-toxic, so no contact recoil and no poison rider. Its growth habit is terrestrial, so it is not eligible for a Moss Pole. As a native it wants defensive field gear to firm up its middling armor; as an invasive, offensive gear makes its strong ATK count. See field gear.
At level 40 it reads 103 HP native / 89 invasive, with ATK of 22 native versus 32 invasive β a big gap (native ATK 22 rising to invasive ATK 31), so the invader hits much harder. DEF is 10, mid-low for a shrub. Its tempo is even: turn 1 uses its initiative (38) and every turn after its SPD (38), which sit at the same value, so it is neither a fast opener nor a fast cruiser. Retreat costs 12 Sun. As a native it gains a +15% HP cushion and a benched HP overshield for your active; as an invasive it pays Faustian self-damage to its own bench on each damaging attack and concedes 2 prizes when knocked out. See Stats.
Matured to level 100, broadleaf palm lily reaches 190 HP native / 165 invasive and 38 / 65 ATK, with DEF up to 20 β a shrub gains meaningful bulk but never a tree's wall. Retreat rises to 22 Sun, and its tempo has sunk to roughly 1% of cap, so a mature plant acts last against almost anything young. Maturing buys durability and the full regeneration at the cost of speed.
As a shrub, broadleaf palm lily is in the Competitor succession group. It hits Ruderal plants for Γ1.5 and takes only Γ0.667 from them; it is weak to Specialist plants, which strike it for Γ1.5 while resisting its blows. Against other Competitors and the off-wheel Weird group the matchup is neutral. See Weaknesses & Resistances.
Play broadleaf palm lily as a steady all-rounder: it opens and cruises at the same pace, mends between blows, and binds a target that tries to flee. As a native it makes a solid buffer with its HP cushion and overshield; as an invasive its much higher ATK turns it into a real attacker that can pin and punish. It is inedible, so any nutrient banks Γ1.25 XP. It fights as an even-tempo skirmisher that leans on its bulk as it grows, crossing over around level 25 β always stronger higher up, so keep leveling it.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
