Brugmansia versicolor
A toxic shrub that poisons anything that strikes it, opens fast, and cannot be Burned at all.
Peach angel's trumpet is a Shrub whose main threat is contact: it holds the Toxin trait, so attackers get poisoned for hitting it. It is native to South America and invasive in Eastern North America, so the arena can field it either way β as a native buffer or as an invasive attacker. It is a niche card: middling stats mean its guaranteed Toxin and its complete immunity to Burn are the reasons to run it.
Its starter attack, Berry, unlocks at level 1 and costs 2 Sun, dealing about 26 damage as a native and 27 as an invasive β a plain hit. The free once-per-battle ability, Chaparral Climax, arrives at level 25: Owns the dry hillside: heal 60% and +4 ATK. The advanced attack, Coppice Comeback, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun (21 native / 22 invasive) and binds the target so it cannot retreat cleanly. Most of your trumpets sit below level 40, where only the starter is open. None of its moves carry an initiative rider. See Moves.
Peach angel's trumpet carries two working traits. Toxin is floored onto the level-10 riser β this is a deadly species, so the game guarantees it rather than leaving it to the draw β and it makes the card's attacks apply Poison. Lignotuber (level 68) leaves the woody base immune to Burn, and healed by any attempt to Burn it. See Abilities.
This card holds the Toxin trait: striking it Poisons the attacker at the toxic tier, and that recoil fires in player-versus-player (PvP) too. Sulfur soil does not neutralize it, though a Cloche-warded attacker absorbs it. That contact hazard is its whole identity β a plant that punishes melee. Its growth habit is terrestrial, so it is not eligible for a Moss Pole. As a native it wants defensive field gear so it survives long enough to poison several attackers; as an invasive, offensive gear leans into its aggression. See statuses for how Poison ticks.
At level 40 it reads 103 HP native / 89 invasive, with ATK of 15 native versus 19 invasive β a modest gap (native ATK 15 rising to invasive ATK 19). DEF is 13, mid-low for a shrub. Its tempo leads then fades: turn 1 uses its initiative (51), every turn after its SPD (34), so it opens quickly but is out-paced in a long fight. Retreat costs 16 Sun. As a native it gains a +15% HP cushion and a benched HP overshield for your active; as an invasive it pays Faustian self-damage to its own bench on each damaging attack and concedes 2 prizes when knocked out. See Stats.
Matured to level 100, peach angel's trumpet reaches 190 HP native / 165 invasive and 25 / 36 ATK, with DEF up to 28 β a shrub gains meaningful bulk but never a tree's wall. Retreat rises to 33 Sun, and its tempo has sunk to roughly 1% of cap, so a mature plant acts last against almost anything young. Maturing buys durability so the poison threat lingers longer; it never buys a passive ability, because it has none.
As a shrub, peach angel's trumpet is in the Competitor succession group. It hits Ruderal plants for Γ1.5 and takes only Γ0.667 from them; it is weak to Specialist plants, which strike it for Γ1.5 while resisting its blows. Against other Competitors and the off-wheel Weird group the matchup is neutral. See Weaknesses & Resistances.
Play peach angel's trumpet as a contact-punisher: force the opponent to attack into it and let Poison stack up while it trades. As a native it can also buffer the bench with its HP cushion and overshield; as an invasive it is a mediocre attacker whose real payoff is still the recoil. It is inedible, so any nutrient banks Γ1.25 XP. It fights as a fast opener that settles into a grind, crossing over around level 30 β always stronger higher up, so keep leveling it.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
