Overview

Boenninghausenia albiflora is a Perennial herb card, native to East Asia, Oceania and South Asia and listed as invasive nowhere, which makes it native-only. It always plays the buffer role: a +15% health cushion and a bench overshield projected onto your active plant. There is no attacker version. See nativity and categories.

Moves

The starter attack, Bitter Sap, unlocks at level 1 for 2 Sun and hits for 29. Bitter compounds poison the foe. It is the card's hardest hit.

The free once-per-battle ability, Autogenic Reaction, unlocks at level 25 and costs no Sun. Remakes its own ground: +6 ATK and heal 25%.

The advanced attack, Taproot Canal, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun and lands for 26. Drives down and draws the foe dry. It hits for less than the starter at three times the Sun cost, so the starter remains this card's damage. See moves.

Abilities

Basal Rosette arrives on the first riser at level 10 at full strength, adding a small flat amount of armour. On a card with very little to begin with, that is a meaningful share of its defence.

Deep Taproot stacks on at level 68, granting immunity to Bind. A fast card that cannot be pinned is difficult to control, since locking a quick plant down is the standard answer to it. See statuses.

Features

The species record lists no toxicity and no trait keywords, so no poison rider applies. For field gear, survivability is the gap. Its growth habit is not vine, epiphyte or hemiepiphyte, so a Moss Pole does not apply.

Stats

At level 40 the native side reads 103 HP and 23 ATK. Armour is 4, low. Retreat is 16 Sun. Opening tempo is 51, at the top of the range, while sustained tempo is 34 β€” so it opens fast and then settles to average. See stats.

At Level 100

By level 100 health reaches 190 and attack 41, with armour only at 8. The soft-herb divergence: a much bigger body, barely more plating. Retreat rises to 33 Sun and the inverted tempo has sunk to its floor, taking away the fast opening that was this card's main advantage.

Weaknesses & Resistances

Perennial herb is Competitor: strong into Ruderal β€” annual forbs, grasses, aquatics and bulbs β€” and weak to Specialist, meaning succulents, conifers, ferns and epiphytes. See weaknesses and resistances.

Gameplay uses

A modest card. Its attack is fair rather than good, the advanced slot is a downgrade on damage, and being native-only means there is no aggressive version to grow into. What it offers is a fast opening and, from level 68, immunity to being pinned.

Use it as an early-turn bench body that can take the first action when you need one. It is not a card to build around.

It is not eaten, so a soil amendment earns no matching fertiliser coins and instead banks the Γ—1.25 XP an inedible plant pays. See the battle lab.

Total power

Leveling trades speed for power. A plant’s tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β€” native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β€” with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
