Argyranthemum broussonetii
A soft African-native shrub with a hit-blunting leaf and total Burn immunity, playable only as a native and best treated as a modest collectible.
Broussonet's argyranthemum is a soft Shrub that fights as a light attacker with thin armor and no standout trick. It is native to Africa and has no invasive range, so the arena only ever casts it as a native buffer β never an attacker. Honestly, it is a weak, largely collectible card β its stats are low β but it does blunt every hit by 3 and becomes flatly immune to Burn at level 68.
Its starter attack, Bramblemaze, unlocks at level 1 and costs 2 Sun, dealing about 26 damage β a straightforward strike. The free once-per-battle ability, Frugivore Pact, comes in at level 25: Trades fruit for carriage: +3 ATK, and the foe's whole bench sickens. The advanced attack, Briar Cage, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun (18 damage) and pins the target in place. Most of your specimens sit below level 40, where only the starter is available, and none of its moves carry an initiative rider, so it never seizes a turn.
Broussonet's argyranthemum holds two always-on traits. Sclerophylly (level 10) takes a flat 3 off every direct hit. Lignotuber (level 68) means fire is not a threat to this card at all β Burn refuses to take, and the attempt heals it. See Abilities.
It carries no special trait keywords and, as a terrestrial shrub, is not eligible for a Moss Pole. It is non-toxic, so it shows no hazard ring and nothing punishes an attacker for hitting it. Since it only ever plays as a native, general defensive field gear is the sensible choice, though little gear can hide how thin its base stats are.
At level 40 it reads 103 HP and 15 ATK. DEF is just 10, low in the shrub band, so it takes hits with little armor. Its tempo is back-loaded: turn 1 runs on a lower initiative (38) and every turn after on a higher SPD (43), so it is out-paced off the mark but a touch quicker in a long fight. Retreat costs 12 Sun. Because it always plays as a native, it gains the +15% HP cushion and, while benched, projects an HP overshield onto your active. See Stats.
Matured to level 100, it climbs to 190 HP and 25 ATK, but its DEF only reaches 20 β as a soft shrub it firms up only modestly and never becomes a true wall. Retreat rises to 23 Sun and its tempo has sunk to roughly 1% of cap, so a mature specimen is slow and still fragile. Maturing buys health but little else, which keeps it a collectible more than a contender.
As a shrub, Broussonet's argyranthemum is in the Competitor succession group. It hits Ruderal plants (annual forbs, grasses, aquatics, bulbs) for Γ1.5 and takes only Γ0.667 from them; it is weak to Specialist plants (succulents, conifers, ferns, epiphytes), which hit it for Γ1.5 while resisting its blows. Against other Competitors and the off-wheel Weird group the matchup is neutral. See Weaknesses & Resistances.
There is no strong competitive case for Broussonet's argyranthemum: soft stats make it a filler native buffer at best, useful mainly to round out a collection or to trickle its bench overshield onto a real hitter β though fire cannot touch it from level 68. It is inedible, so any nutrient you feed it banks Γ1.25 XP toward growth rather than coins β steady progress toward its (modest) ceiling. It fights as a slow skirmisher until about level 29, after which its added health carries it a little further β leveling always helps its raw stats, so play it up if you like it.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
