Alocasia longiloba
A native-only aroid whose entire kit stacks poison, backed by a passive Burn each checkup and a corm that can bring it back from a lethal hit.
Rare Alocasia Amazonica is a Perennial herb whose whole kit is built to poison: every slot lays poison on the target, chipping it down over the turns that follow. It is native to East Asia, Oceania, and South Asia, and the arena only ever casts it as a native β no invasive card exists β so it plays as a native buffer whose contribution is damage-over-time. It is an unusual card carried entirely by its poison stacking.
Its starter attack, Bitter Sap, unlocks at level 1 and costs 2 Sun, dealing about 29 damage and applying poison that ticks each turn. The free once-per-battle ability, Stabilization, comes in at level 25: Pins the ground down β the foe stalls, and can't break away. It too lays poison. The advanced attack, Self-Medicate, unlocks at level 40 for 6 Sun (29 damage) and stacks more poison as it strikes. Most of your alocasia sit below level 40, where only the starter is available. None of its moves carry an initiative rider, so it never seizes a turn. See Statuses for how poison ticks.
Rare alocasia amazonica runs a trait on each riser. Thermogenesis (level 10) applies 1 Burn stack to the opposing active each checkup. Corm Reserve (level 68) gives it a 35% chance to cling on through a lethal hit at 30% HP, dropping every status as it comes back. See Abilities.
It carries no special trait keywords, so nothing punishes an attacker for hitting it. Note that although its moves poison the enemy, the plant itself is non-toxic to the touch: it has no contact recoil and shows no hazard ring, so attackers take no damage for striking it. Its growth habit is terrestrial, so it is not eligible for a Moss Pole. Defensive field gear that adds HP or DEF best suits its slow, chipping game.
At level 40 alocasia reads 103 HP and 22 ATK. Because it is native-only, there is no invasive variant β the arena never casts it as a dedicated attacker. DEF is just 1, at the carrion-aroid floor, so it takes hits with almost no armor. Its tempo is roughly even: turn 1 runs on its initiative (39) and every turn after on a marginally higher SPD (41), so it is out-paced early and steadier later. Retreat costs 12 Sun. As a native it gains a +15% HP cushion and, while benched, projects an HP overshield bar onto your active. See Stats.
Matured to level 100, alocasia grows to 190 HP and 39 ATK, but its DEF only reaches 1 β it gains health and almost no armor, so it stays fragile against any real hitter. Retreat rises to 23 Sun, and its tempo has sunk to roughly 1% of cap, so a mature alocasia acts last against almost anything young. Its poison damage, though, scales with the fight rather than its own bulk.
As a carrion-aroid, alocasia sits in the off-wheel Weird succession group. It has no type advantage and no type disadvantage β every matchup is neutral, so it neither beats nor loses to any group on the succession wheel. See Weaknesses & Resistances.
Play alocasia as a poison layer: stack the tick early, then retreat or stall while the damage-over-time does the work. Its native bench overshield lets it prop up a fragile hitter, and its neutral type means no matchup ever punishes it β but it also never gets an edge, and its own direct damage and defense are low, so it is a niche support piece rather than a carry. Its economy is growth-only β it is inedible, so any nutrient banks x1.25 XP rather than coins. Its tempo trends from a soft opener to a steadier presence as it levels, crossing over around level 29 β and higher levels always improve its stats, so there is no reason to hold it back.
Leveling trades speed for power. A plantβs tempo (SPD + INI, the turn-order edge) fades as it grows, while its power (HP + ATK + DEF, net of the rising Sun cost to retreat) climbs. The crossover is the level where power overtakes tempo: below it the plant is a fast skirmisher, above it a heavyweight. Shown for each stance this plant can actually hold β native adds a HP cushion, invasive an attack edge, neutral neither β with the card at its crossover and fully grown at LvΒ 100.
